Dear Resident, As we approach Christmas and the end of 2025, as your local team officers we would like to take a moment to reflect on what truly matters to you. From Women’s Safety Sessions Walk Talk and Do, anti-social behaviour drop-in surgeries, Crime Prevention Stalls, Street Briefings, to supporting and providing reassurance to those who are victims of any crime and tackling anti-social behaviour in our area. These are the just some of the hundreds of policing services my team deliver every day to make Petts Wood & Knoll safer. I would also like to thank all of you for signing up to this Met Engage and wish you a Happy Christmas and a safe Happy New Year. Lastly, I’m sharing some simple steps to help keep you, your home, and your belongings safe.
Shopping Safety • Keep bags zipped and wallets secure, especially in busy areas. • Be cautious when using your phone in public—distraction makes you a target. • Avoid carrying large amounts of cash. • If shopping online, use trusted retailers and secure payment methods. Look out for fake websites and scam emails. Home Security • Don’t leave gifts visible in windows or near doors. • Use timers for lights if you’re out in the evening. • Lock doors and windows—even if you’re just popping out. • Dispose of packaging discreetly to avoid advertising new purchases.
Vehicle Protection • Never leave shopping bags or valuables in view. • Park in well-lit, busy areas. • Double-check your car is locked before walking away.
Parcel Deliveries • Track deliveries and arrange for someone to receive them if you’re not home. • Consider using secure drop boxes or collection points. • Report suspicious activity around delivery vans or doorsteps.
Look Out for Each Other • Check in on neighbours, especially those who may be vulnerable or alone. • Report anything unusual—your vigilance helps keep our community safe. • Help and encourage your neighbours to join Met Engage platform for community alerts.
